5 Ways to run a Hospitality Ministry in the Church

There is one word that comes to our mind when we hear “Hospitality” and that is “Reconnection”. It is true when you understand it. The message of the Gospel also revolved around reconnecting. This reconnection comes with a lot of different things and it is important to feel hospitable in an environment or around a person if you want to “reconnect” with him.

There are 5 amazing ways to run a hospitality ministry in your church:

1- Have a Strong Online Presence

It is important to have a strong online presence to show you are credible, authentic, and care for people. Your website should be complete and up-to-date and it must explain all the details, contact information, location, updates, and provide valuable information to your readers. The same goes for social media platforms. They all should be used smartly and consistently.

Having active online information is a form of online hospitality. It creates a warm sense of connection that your church cares for you and is keeping you updated with valuable content.

2- Focus on the Parking Lot

Do you know what you can do uniquely that others are ignoring? Make your hospitality ministry work in the parking lots. Sounds, weird, right? BUT IT WORKS!

When a family is visiting you for the first time, and they have kids as well, the hardest part starts at the parking lot. It is normal to not able to find a parking spot and it becomes even harder to be calm and patient when the kids are being cranky at the back seat or you have been exhausted due to all-week long work.

Your church ministry should assign teams in the parking lot to help distressed newcomers who are visiting for the first time. Make them easier to park and then make them comfortable enough.

3- Have an Escort Team

The best thing you can make happen for your church hospitality ministry is to train them with escorting skills. Yes, you helped in the parking lot and greeted them at the gate, now what? How are your newcomers going to find their designated place/hall? They are new so of course, they don’t know about the paths.

Here comes the escort team who can be church volunteers or the ministry itself to escort the new guests to their designated seats. While doing this, you can initiate a cool and calm conversation with them. Let them know about the church and make them feel how glad you are that they are attending.

4- Focus on Children Ministry

Families with small kids find it very hard to come to church and even if they do, they are concerned about a peaceful prayer process or the mothers are assisting small kids. This is one of the main reasons why parents with small kids or babies are unable to be regular in a church.

Your church ministry should be responsible for making the church child-friendly by having an extraordinary nursery with caregivers and babysitters. The babies and toddlers can nap, eat, play and spend quality time with their children’s ministry and the parents can get enough time to focus on their connection with God.

5- Be Vocal

Now that you have done everything, it is important to be vocal about how you feel about having newcomers in your church. You can greet and welcome your guests on the stage before the start of the prayer. It is important that you make them feel comfortable and important. A special treatment makes people’s hearts full of warmth and that is what makes a newcomer a permanent visitor.
